- How to get started with Pilates in St Poelten?
Every new client is advised to take an introductory package: 3 private sessions at a reduced price. These classes are necessary for me to find the right Pilates program for you. If you are new to Pilates, you will have time to get to know the Pilates equipment.
- Who is Pilates for?
EVERY-BODY. It is never too late to start.
- I have done Pilates before, do I need to take the intro classes?
Yes. Private sessions are the foundations of your own Pilates practice. Also, we employ the unique Pilates equipment and I need to show you how to use it.
- What should I wear for my Pilates classes?
Comfortable athletic wear free of buttons and zippers. I do not require socks to be worn but feel free to wear them.
- Any way I can avoid a 24 hour cancellation penalty?
If you cancel your lesson in less than 24 hours, you will be charged as I cannot fill your slot on such short notice. However, if you refer a friend, to take your slot, we are all good.
- I am pregnant, can I do Pilates?
For Mums-to-be it is more beneficial to book equipment classes. Online matwork or group classes are not appropriate for expecting mothers.
- I have a shoulder/back/knee etc. injury. Can I do Pilates?
Yes. Pilates offers countless modifications for different injuries and limitations. You will learn how to modify exercises appropriately for your condition. I used to work with injured athletes as well as a lot of elderly people whose recovery from injuries and whose freedom of movement was greatly advanced by doing pilates 2-3 times a week.
- What are the benefits of the specialised Pilates equipment?
The Pilates equipment is designed to challenge stabilisation of one segment of the body while moving other parts of it. It is executing stabilisation in certain parts while mobilising other parts that makes movement efficient and non-stressful on the joints. This is what makes Pilates so functional.
Additionally, the resistance is produced by springs instead of weights. The springs provide GRADUAL resistance as the muscles contract, so there is less stress on the joints, tendons and ligaments.
